Frustration taken out on premium players

Heya,

I almost exclusively play on Deathmatch #3 so my observations regard this server.

While I regularly get sneered at or insulted for being a premium user, in the past days, it has become more frequent. I get that people are frustrated when they don't use premium and get killed by the "big guys" (and I'd rather have everyone having the same opportunities whether donating or not), but I don't think that any hate towards me or other players is justified or warranted when we simply play the game.

The comments range from simple slurs like "prem baby", "clown", "cheater" (from players like "rivfader" or "ravachol", for example) to pseudo-debates about the "unethical" use of premium ("Heat@" and another player that regularly changes nicknames).

I tend to ignore these comments and have started to add players to my ignore list, but sometimes it gets me frustrated as well and I start talking back. Now this brings up "clever" players who'd then call me out for being condescending towards these players (last night, around 1:00).

It has become a drag, and it's really killing the fun. :-|

I'm not saying that people should get banned over this (it would also just confirm their view in the end I guess), but I'd like to raise awareness of the issue.

Cheers,
Marcus (tatarcus)

Hi Marcus!

Unfortunately that is a common problem. However, we treat all provocations/insults the same.

Anyway, you could file a so-called individual player complaint for insults on the same or next day, which would then lead to a ban of the player. The player Heat@ for instance got recently banned for five days due to an individual player complaint.

You can also tell them on the server that if they don't stop, that you will file a complaint in the forum and that this will lead to a ban. This way is considered as an ultima ratio, but it gives players - which do not insult other players themselves - an effective tool.

Kind Regards,
Edgar
